CULTURA FEST
THE HYBRID HEART
Founded by Ricardo Archila, a first-generation U.S.-born Salvadoran realtor and community advocate, Cultura Fest was created from a desire to share his “hybrid heart” — the experience of navigating the space between cultural roots, heritage, and the American identity shaped through migration and belonging.
Through his own journey of reconnecting with Salvadoran culture while embracing the many influences that shaped his life, Ricardo discovered that this experience is shared by many communities. Across diasporas, people navigate questions of identity, heritage, healing, and belonging while creating new expressions of culture that honor the past and imagine the future.
Cultura Fest celebrates diasporic cultures, with a special focus on Salvadoran and Central American experiences, by creating a platform for artists, creators, and community members to share their stories, traditions, and creativity.
Celebrations include:
-
Visual Art Exhibitions — contemporary and heritage-inspired works highlighting cultural expression and identity.
-
Performances — music, dance, spoken word, and comedy that showcase the diverse voices of our communities.
-
Cultural Storytelling — films, installations, and presentations exploring journeys of belonging, community, and healing.
-
Education, Collaboration, and Free Community Events — opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration that explore the many ways culture evolves and connects us.
-
Cultura Fest embodies the “hybrid heart” — the experience of living between worlds, where tradition meets innovation, ancestral stories merge with future visions, and every culture has a space to be seen, celebrated, and shared.
Cultura Fest is a movement centered on cross-cultural understanding, community connection, healing, education, collaboration, and pride. It creates an inclusive space where people of all backgrounds can come together to learn, celebrate, reflect, and honor the richness of diasporic life.
